This presentation reviews Ontario’s requirements for approving settlements on behalf of minors and for appointing guardians to manage their awards. It emphasizes the duty to serve the child’s best interests under Rule 7.08 of the Rules of Civil Procedure and related case law. It outlines how to prepare concise motions with clear expert summaries, balanced risk assessments and detailed fee submissions while preserving solicitor client confidentiality and open court principles. Practical guidance is provided on limiting redactions to essential cases and on structuring financial management plans or applications to the court for minor funds.
