Impaired Driving Update: Maybe this is good news?

Paula Puddy, HBA LLB MBA

The County of Carleton Law Association (CCLA) brings you this week’s webinar, presented by panelists Brandon Crawford, and James Foord. The panelists provide an update on impaired driving law, including substantive legal issues, and Charter applications that must be taken into consideration.

Brandon Crawford and James Foord, discuss trial level case law from the past year that lawyers representing clients charged with impaired driving offences should be familiar with. They also review appellate jurisprudence from the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court of Canada. The presenters cover a range of topics related to impaired driving, including recent developments in case law on impaired driving causing death or bodily harm, the use of drug recognition experts, and the admissibility of evidence obtained through drug recognition evaluations. Brandon Crawford and James Foord also address the impact of recent legislative changes to the impaired driving laws, and how they may affect the prosecution and defense of impaired driving cases.
