Neha Chugh graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Social Development Studies and Social Work from the University of Waterloo, and completed a Master’s degree in Planning from the University of Guelph. Her passion for community development and social policy led her to Osgoode Hall Law School where she focused on criminal law, family law, and children and the law. Neha completed her articles with senior criminal defence counsel in downtown Toronto, and was called to the Bar in 2011. Her practice started in Eastern Ontario with a distinct focus on driving offences – Impaired Driving, Over 80, Refuse Breath Sample, and Dangerous Driving cases. Since then she has expanded her practice to cover all areas of Criminal Law.
Kristen is an experienced trial lawyer. Kirsten’s broad litigation practice includes complex commercial litigation (including class actions and multi-jurisdictional proceedings), intellectual property litigation and professional negligence and administrative law matters. She appears as counsel in the Federal Court of Canada and before the Superior Courts of Ontario and Québec. Kirsten is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. She is a director of The Advocates’ Society and the BLG LLP Partnership Board.
Andrew was called to the Bar in 2009 and is a partner with MBC Law. He practices civil litigation with a focus on construction law, bankruptcy and insolvency law, and general civil litigation matters. Andrew's construction law practice includes construction liens, delay and impact claims, contractual disputes, bond claims, trust claims, and deficiency claims. Andrew regularly represents suppliers, subtrades, general contractors, construction managers, and owners. With the recent changes to the Construction Act, you will often find him guest lecturing at the Ottawa Construction Association. As part of Andrew's bankruptcy and insolvency practice, he represents creditors, debtors, and trustees in bankruptcy. His general litigation experience also includes property disputes, contractual disputes, and employment matters. Andrew is constantly adjudicating disputes between his two young children with varying levels of success.
Douglas W. Judson is the chair of the Federation of Ontario Law Associations and the president of the Rainy River District Law Association. He practices in Fort Frances, Ontario at Judson Howie LLP. Doug is a former municipal councillor and currently serves on the boards of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, the Northwest Community Legal Clinic, and his local 2SLGBTQIA+ Pride organization. He holds bachelors degrees in political science (BSocSc) and commerce (BCom) from the University of Ottawa, and a JD/MBA from Osgoode Hall Law School and the Schulich School of Business. In 2020, he was an Action Canada fellow.
Kelly McDermott is a senior solicitor at the Regional Municipality of Durham specializing in labour and employment law. She has been practicing in labour law for 17 years, and, in addition to her in-house municipal practice, she has practiced at both national and boutique firms on both sides of the bar. She has volunteered on various boards of directors and committees including the Durham Legal Aid Clinic, Durham Region Law Association, Grandview Kids, and the Emergency Services Steering Committee. Kelly has been involved with the OBA and on the association’s Board of Directors and Council in various capacities for many years. She became OBA president in March of 2023 and is focusing her mandate on creating reliable, accessible support networks to assist lawyers facing challenges and changes in their careers and lives. In her own words: she wants to ensure that every member who needs support when life shows up will turn to the OBA and find exactly what they need to endure, adapt and thrive. Kelly was a MS Ambassador for MS Society of Canada representing Ontario and Nunavut. Finally, and most importantly, she is a mom of two and an avid runner.
Corey Willard is a partner in Gowling WLG's Ottawa office who serves his clients in both official languages. Corey's broad litigation practice includes medical defence, health law, professional liability, general commercial disputes and tax matters. Originally from a small town in Eastern Ontario, Corey understands the importance of a strong reputation. He tirelessly defends and protects his clients' reputations. He also regularly works with law enforcement authorities in a variety of matters. He has gained considerable experience in dealing with the use of technology in litigation and regulatory investigations. He also advises his clients on complex privacy-related issues. Corey is a board member of AJEFO (Association des juristes d'expression française de l'Ontario) and a national financial institution. While working in Washington, DC, he volunteered with Presidential Classroom, a program that reached out to the next generation of leaders from around the world. He has also received the Big Brother of the Year award from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada. With a passion for amateur sports, Corey has previously competed across North America and continues to enjoy various sports, including golf and hockey.
