Sean Bawden

Sean Bawden is a partner with the law firm of Kelly Santini LLP. He was called to the bar in 2008 and practices in the areas of employment law and civil litigation. He has also taught Trial Advocacy for Paralegals and Small Claims Court Practice at Algonquin College. He is the author of the employment law blog Labour Pains www.ottawaemploymentlaw.com. Lauren Jamieson

Lauren Jamieson joined Emond Harnden as an Associate in 2018 after articling and spending two summers with the firm. She practices in all areas of labour and employment law,including privacy and access to information, and human rights. She works with a diverse range of private and public sector clients in both provincially and federally regulated spaces, with a particular focus on clients in the aviation industry. Lauren advises and represents employers in all areas of labour and employment law, including wrongful dismissal litigation, human rights, arbitration, collective bargaining, employment standards compliance,contract drafting and administration, and privacy law

Alan Riddell

Alan Riddell is a Partner in the Employment and Labour Group of Soloway Wright LLP. He was born in Ottawa and is a graduate of the University of Toronto Law School and the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris, in Paris, France. He has over 25 years of experience in advising on, and litigating, labour, employment, human rights and public law issues. He is fluently bilingual and practices law in both official languages. He has published, lectured and litigated extensively in the fields of labour and employment law, human rights law and public law. Alan has appeared as counsel before many different administrative tribunals in the fields of labour and employment law, human rights and public law as well as in a number of reported cases in the Ontario Superior Court, Ontario Court of Appeal, and Federal Court of Appeal. In 1991 and 1992, he served as counsel and agent to the Deputy Minister of National Revenue on Employment Insurance appeals to the Tax Court of Canada. During his legal career, Alan has also successfully argued several high profile constitutional and administrative law cases in the Supreme Court of Canada, including Canada's first major court decision interpreting the rights of federal government employees under the Access to Information and Privacy Acts (Dagg v. Minister of Finance), in which he successfully defended the access to information rights of public servants. Alan advises both employer clients and employee clients. As a result of his extensive 25-year experience in simultaneously representing both employers and employees, he has acquired insights into what practical steps employers need to take to resolve employment disputes before they escalate into expensive litigation.

Mario Torres

Mario Torres assists both employers and employees across various industries in ensuring that they understand their rights and obligations.He acts on wrongful dismissal claims, human rights proceedings, employment standards proceedings, and restrictive covenant litigation. Mario also advises clients on employment agreements and employee entitlements upon employment termination. Mario’s skill set, and that he was born in Costa Rica and lived for a time in Guatemala, makes him well positioned to assist clients with interests in Latin America. Hecan communicate fluently, both orally and in writing, in English andSpanish. Mario has experience working on legal matters in several Latin American Countries and he has assisted Canadian companies entering markets in Latin America.He also assists Latin American clients with legal matters in Canada. Mario has direct access to a network of lawyers across Latin America, and throughout the world. He is also the Co-Chair of the Meritas Americas Cannabis Practice Group.
