Kelsey Buchmayer is an associate in Gowling WLG's Ottawa office, practising in the Advocacy and Business Law groups. Kelsey's practice focuses on estate planning and administration as well as Indigenous law. Kelsey obtained her JD from the University of Windsor. During her studies, Kelsey Completed a clerkship at the Supreme Court of the Northwest Territories in Yellowknife and mooted in the Global Rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. Before law school, Kelsey worked for the Government of Canada as a policy analyst with Indigenous Services Canada and Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada, where she drafted and implemented legislation, managed departmental budget submissions, and worked with the Specific Claims Branch Negotiation teams. Kelsey has an MA from the University of Ottawa and a BA from the University of King's College
Justice Mary Fraser - Justice Mary Fraser graduated with her law degree from Queen’s University in 1988. She was called to the bar in 1990. In her early years as a lawyer, she practised around civil litigation in both Toronto and Ottawa. In 1994, she returned to her hometown of Pembroke. For the past 25 years, she has maintained a successful and busy practice providing a wide range of services to her clients, principally in the areas of family law, estate planning and administration, estate litigation, and real estate. She acted for children in family proceedings on behalf of the Office of the Children's Lawyer for over a decade. Justice Fraser has successfully advocated for clients at all levels of court, including the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada. She has presided part-time as a Deputy Judge of the Superior Court of Justice in Ontario since 2016. Justice Fraser is a past President of the Renfrew County Law Association and sat on the Executive of this association in varying capacities for a ten-year period. She is a past member of the Pembroke Police Services Board and served as a Trustee for Wesley United Church (Pembroke). She presently sits on the Board of Valley Heritage Radio. Her greatest joy has been derived from providing keyboard accompaniment for her children’s fiddle music at numerous community events and fundraisers.
Kristen Godwin-Stewart - Kristen is a graduate of Queen’s University (BSc. Hons. Biology and Psychology, 2016) and the University of Edinburgh (LLB., 2018). She was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2020. She is an associate lawyer at Horner & Pietersma Barrister, Solicitors & Notaries Public in Morrisburg, ON, where she practices in the areas of family law, wills and estates, real estate, and corporate. Kristen is a member of the Rural Research Network Ethics Board at Winchester District Memorial Hospital, the Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Law Association, the Leeds & Grenville Law Association, and the County of Carleton Law Association.
Leanne Storms, an esteemed litigation lawyer with Merovitz Potechin LLP, has over a decade of experience as a civil litigator. She currently specializes in all aspects of estates and trusts litigation, including litigating complex estate disputes such as will challenges, power of attorney challenges, guardianship applications, removal and replacement of executors and trustees, and passings of accounts. She also advises executors regarding estate administration. Outside of work, Leanne loves to travel and create amazing culinary delights for her friends and family.
Amanda joined Tierney Stauffer LLP at the end of 2022, stepping into the Wills and Estates practice in the Ottawa office. Born and raised in the Ottawa Valley, Amanda ventured to St. Catherine’s to complete her undergraduate degree, majoring in Philosophy and Women’s studies. She returned home briefly to complete her Masters at Carleton, before following that momentum to Fredericton where she attended UNB completing her JD in 2016. She returned to the Ottawa area for her articles, while working part time at a Board Game Store. Called to the Bar in 2019, Amanda jumped into solo practice, offering mobile appointments to clients all over Eastern Ontario, transitioning well into the new virtual legal environment during the height of the pandemic. Since joining the Firm she continues to offer services in Wills, Estates and Residential Real Estate to clients in the heart of the Ottawa-Carleton region. Amanda is personable and approachable, and continues to offer flexible legal services to clients, bringing the skills learned in small town general practice to bear in providing start-to-finish client care.
