Jennifer Babe

Jennifer E. Babe, LL.M., is a partner at Miller Thomson LLP practising in the area of corporate-commercial law. Ms. Babe is the editor of the Personal Property Security Law newsletter, "Imperfections", for the OBA and has spoken on the PPSA and other business topics at CBA, OBA, LSUC, Osgoode Hall, and other courses and meetings. Jennifer is a Fellow of the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers, the past chair of the CBA’s national business section, the past chair of the Commercial Law Strategy Committee of the Uniform Law Conference of Canada, has written Sale of a Business, in its 9th edition, and co-authored Creditors' Remedies in Ontario, 2nd edition. She is listed in the 2013 and 6 prior editions of the Lexpert Directory for the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada.

Paul Dancause

B.A., LL.B. Sole practitioner, Ottawa. Graduate of Dalhousie Law School (as it was then), 1984. Called to the Ontario Bar 1986. Practice restricted to estate-related matters, including solicitor’s work and estate litigation, including substitute decision practice and litigation. Has argued cases at all levels of court including the Court of Appeal for Ontario and the Supreme Court of Canada. Taught for many years at the Faculty of Law, University of Ottawa (Wills, Estate Planning, Trusts). Former head instructor at the Bar Admission Course (as it then was) in Ottawa in the Estate Planning and Administration component. Has presented numerous estate-related papers and topics at continuing legal education and CPD programs over the past twenty-five years.

Robert Ford

Robert D. Ford, admitted to the bar in 1994 (British Columbia) and 2000 (Ontario). Robert (Bob) Ford is a Partner in Kelly Santini’s business law department practicing corporate and commercial law with an emphasis on sophisticated corporate and commercial matters, including private equity and venture capital transactions involving domestic and cross border equity and debt financings, mergers and acquisitions, partnership agreements, technology/life sciences licensing transactions and corporate reorganizations. Bob advises clients in a variety of commercial industries, including medical devices, semiconductor, networking systems, hardware, software, web-based and e-businesses. Prior to joining Kelly Santini, Bob was a Partner with Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP in its Ottawa office. Bob brings valuable practical experience and perspective to his clients having previously served as entrepreneur-in-residence with Celtic House Venture Partners (a leading venture capital firm), President & CEO of Ardesic Corporation (acquired December 2001) and General Counsel at TimeStep Corporation (acquired August 1999). Bob began his career in 1994 practising law in private practice with a prominent Vancouver law firm.

Janet Kasun

Janet Kasun is a lawyer practicing in the Ottawa office of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP in the area of tax with a focus on commodity tax. Janet received her HBA in Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario and her designation as a CMA from the Society of Management Accountants of Manitoba. She then went on to complete her LLB from the University of Ottawa and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2001, receiving the Treasurer’s Medal as the top bar admission student in the province.

Lawrence Silber

Lawrence Silber was called to the Bar in the province of Ontario Bar in 1986, and specializes in corporate/commercial law with particular expertise in income tax, estate and succession planning. He advises clients on a broad range of business matters and practices residential and commercial real estate. He is a Partner at Kelly Santini LLP. Lawrence Silber deals extensively with families in business together in order to provide a comprehensive solution to difficulties that arise in family businesses trying to balance family and business. Lawrence Silber has been an instructor in the Business Law section of the Ontario Bar Admission Course. He taught real property law for the Ontario Real Estate Association for close to 30 years and lectures frequently on wills and estate matters. Lawrence is a member of several tax and estate planning-related professional organizations, including the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, Ottawa Estate Planning Council and Family Enterprise Xchange (formerly the Canadian Association of Family Enterprises). He is on the Solicitors Conference Committee for the Carleton County Law Association, frequently contributing articles to the conference. He is also a member of the Taxation, Business, Real Property, Trust and Estate Law sections of the American Bar Association. Lawrence Silber earned both his civil and common law degrees (B.C.L. and LL.B) from McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
