Carolyn Brandow, LL.B., is a partner with Lerners LLP, a firm founded 90 years ago. Carolyn was called to the Ontario bar in 2000 after graduating from the University of Western Ontario.
She has practiced civil litigation in London since her call to the bar. In 2004, Carolyn acted as counsel to the Honourable Mr. Justice R.J. Haines in the Review of the Meat Inspection and Regulatory Regimes in Ontario on a sabbatical. During the review, Carolyn met with many individuals involved in public health law around the province which cemented her passion for health law. From 2006 to present, Carolyn’s health law practice has focused on a combination of medical negligence and administrative/regulatory matters including discipline and fitness to practice hearings, hospital privileges, privacy and human rights. Her practice has involved long and short trials, administrative tribunal hearings and appeals in all levels of court.
Patrick Brennan is a trial lawyer at Shillingtons LLP. His practice focuses principally on motor vehicle accident litigation, accident benefit dispute resolution, and municipal/institutional liability. Patrick has appeared before the Superior Court of Justice, the Divisional Court, the Court of Appeal and various tribunals.
In the past, Patrick has worked with the Small Claims Court Project at Western Law assisting low income claimants in navigating the court system, was a board member at WIL Employment Centre, and is a past trustee of the Middlesex Law Association.
Patrick obtained his Juris Doctor from Queen’s University in 2009 and was admitted to the Bar of Ontario in 2010. He joined Shillingtons LLP in 2012.
William joined Cohen Highley’s Personal Injury team in 2015. William splits his practice between plaintiff personal injury and insurance defence litigation. After graduating from Queens Law William articled with a full service law firm in Barrie where he focused on civil litigation. In 2013 William returned to London to be closer to his family. William has appeared in front of a number of courts and tribunals including the Court of Appeal, Divisional Court, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, WSIAT, LAT, and FSCO. William and his wife recently welcomed their third child.
Donna M. Kraft was called to the bar in 1985, and has been a sole practitioner in London, Ontario since 1998, restricting her practice to life insurance company defence litigation throughout Ontario. Donna was formerly in-house litigation counsel with London Life Insurance Company after having articled and practiced both plaintiff and defence litigation with the Siskinds law firm.
Lucy practises in the areas of personal injury, medical malpractice, and non-profitco-operative housing. She has assisted clients in obtaining fair compensation when they have been injured due to: car accidents, slips and falls, medical malpractice, product defects, assaults, and recreational related activities. She has assisted clients in obtaining compensation from long-term disability providers, WSIB, and CPP. She has appeared before the Superior Court of Justice, Divisional Court and Court of Appeal, Licence Appeal Tribunal, Ontario Human Rights Tribunal, Office of the Commissioner of Review Tribunals, Pension Appeals Board, Workplace Safety Insurance Board- appeals branch, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal, and the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board.
Lucy is very active in the London community. She is presently the Vice Chair on the King’s University Foundation Board, member of the London Claims Association, Brain Injury Association, Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, The Advocates’ Society, and the Southwest Region Women’s Law Association. She is the former chair of Leads Employment Services.
Barbara Legate is the founding partner of Legate Injury lawyers. Barbara has engraved her vision of excellence in personal injury litigation and service to clients onto the firm. For Barbara, every case is personal. With every client, she asks, "what would I expect if I was sitting in his chair? How can I help my client get back what she has lost, or protect the future of this family?" Guelph General Hospital and Ayanbadejo which confirmed the rights of children to sue for medical malpractice. For Barbara, representation of children injured by negligence at the outset of their lives is a passion.
Evelyn ten Cate is a London transplant (originally from Brockville, Ontario). She did her undergraduate degree in Economics at Queen’s University and her law degree at Western University. She was called to the bar in 1994. After a brief stint in family law, she joined Foster Townsend in 1996 and became a partner in 2004. She practices both insurance defence and plaintiff personal injury litigation throughout southwestern Ontario.
