Presenters

Jasmine Daya

Jasmine graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas in December 2001 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and a Bachelor of Science in Economics. She completed the Canadian Securities Course in 2004. Prior to commencing her undergraduate studies, Jasmine completed a Pre-college Summer program at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.

Jasmine graduated from Queen’s University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Laws. While at Queen’s, Jasmine was the recipient of the Reuben Wells Leonard prize in Business law and an active volunteer within the Queen’s Law community. During the summer of 2003, Jasmine completed an International and Comparative Law Program through Tulane University that was hosted by McGill University.

After completion of the Bar Admissions Course and exams, Jasmine commenced her articles in 2005 under Jack Fireman and was admitted to the Law Society of Upper Canada in 2006. While continuing to practice as a full-time lawyer, Jasmine studied at Osgoode Hall graduating in 2009 with a Master of Laws. In 2013, Jasmine received a Certificate from Harvard Law School for successful completion of the Negotiation course for lawyers and executives.

Kira Domratchev

Kira joined Hull & Hull LLP as an associate in 2017 following her call to the bar. She holds a J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School and a B.Comm. from Ryerson University. Prior to joining the firm, Kira served her articles at a prominent personal injury and commercial litigation boutique firm in Toronto where she was exposed to various aspects of civil litigation practice. 

While attending law school, Kira volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada, the Osgoode Business Clinic, the Community Legal Aid Services Programme (CLASP), the Osgoode Hall Mentorship Program and the Ontario Deputy Judges’ Association, amongst others. 

Ian M. Hull

Ian is a lecturer at the Ontario Bar Admission course and guest lecturer for the Canadian Bar Association and the Law Society of Upper Canada. He is also the author of four books on estate law issues – including the seminal Probate Practice, now in its fourth edition – and numerous articles.

Ian has an LL.B. from the University of Windsor and an Honours B.A. from the University of Western Ontario. He was called to the bar in 1990. He is a certified specialist in estate and trust law and civil litigation, a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. He was chosen by LawDay as one of the top 60 estate and trust lawyers for 2009 and 2010.

Paulette Pommells

Paulette Pommells is the CEO and principal coach of Creative Choices for the 21st Century Lawyer Inc. A 21st Century Lawyer herself, Paulette discovered a gap in career building skills among the profession and decided to launch a coaching platform exclusively for lawyers. Rachelle Villanueva

Rachelle is a solo-practitioner who runs her own civil litigation practice at RTV Law. Since her call to the Ontario Bar in 2008, Rachelle’s practice has focused primarily on plaintiff personal injury and insurance defence litigation. She authors instructional content for the WestLaw Next Canada's Personal Injury Practical Guidance module.

She earned her JD from Western University in 2006, where she received honorary recognition for her advocacy skills in the Cherniak Cup Trial Advocacy Competition and BLG Client Counselling Competition. She gained a passion for litigation early in her legal career as a Caseworker for the Western Law Legal Clinic with carriage of criminal, landlord/tenant and civil litigation files. Presently, she continues to do volunteer work with Pro Bono Ontario, providing legal advice through their hotline and as duty counsel. Rachelle is also an enthusiastic guitarist and vocalist who loves playing the occasional open mic jam in the YYZ.
