Conference Description

Besides overseeing basic treasury and accounting functions, today’s small company CFO is charged with monitoring all open legal issues involving the company, and legal issues affecting their industry sector.  This includes ensuring all agreements cover all the risks, from regulatory as well as liability perspectives.  Without the luxury of in-house counsel and faced with the high cost of legal professionals, CFOs are increasingly spending more of their time dealing with legal agreements and issues. In addition, when faced with a decision to expand into different countries, the legal and regulatory issues of the new country need to be considered.

Business Law and Legal Issues Facing Finance Professionals is a conference series created to provide CFOs and Finance executives a primer on some of the more common legal issues they will deal with so as to help them process and understand legal agreements dealing with these issues in an efficient manner, freeing up their time to focus on the strategic issues facing their corporation.

The first conference, to be held on May 6th, 2016 at the Tangerine Centre in Toronto is titled "The Global Business" and will discuss some key issues for companies looking to expand globally.  We have crafted an agenda with input from our partners to provide a comprehensive review of the common issues that most companies face as they expand globally.

Sessions will be delivered in panels by speakers from leading law firms and expert accountants.
