Justice Robert Beaudoin

B.A. 1970, (Windsor); M.Ed. 1974 (U of T); LLB 1979, (Windsor) Justice Beaudoin was called to the Bar (Ontario) in 1981. He then practiced law in Windsor, Ontario. In 1989, he was appointed the Regional Director of Courts Administration for East Region in Ottawa. He joined the Civil Justice Review in 1994 and participated in the productions of the Review’s two reports aimed at reforming Ontario’s civil justice system. He has extensive experience in civil case management and court-annexed mediation. In January of 1997, he was appointed the Case Management Master for the Superior Court of Justice in Ottawa. After his appointment, he lectured and provided advice on case management and mediation and participated in a number of international justice projects in the Caribbean, Asia and Africa. In 2007, he was named one of two Family Case Managers involved in a Pilot Project in the Family Branch of the Superior Court in Ottawa. He was appointed a judge of the Superior Court of Justice in September, 2009. He is currently the Local Administrative Judge for Civil Matters for the Superior Court of Justice in Ottawa.

Nancy Brooks

Nancy Brooks is a Managing Partner with Blake Cassels & Graydon LLP who practises in the area of litigation, with a primary emphasis on public law, employment law and commercial matters. She has acted as counsel to professional disciplinary inquiry panels and to administrative tribunals. She also regularly acts on tariff proceedings before the Copyright Board and represents clients on procurement review challenges to the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) under the North American Free Trade Agreement, the Agreement on Internal Trade, the Agreement on Government Procurement and other trade agreements. From 2004 to 2007, Nancy served as the executive legal officer to the Chief Justice of Canada, the Right Honourable Beverley McLachlin P.C. at the Supreme Court of Canada. Nancy is recognized by The Best Lawyers in Canada from 2012 to 2014 in the area of Administrative and Public Law, and was named Best Lawyers' 2014 Ottawa Administrative and Public Law "Lawyer of the Year."

Sally Gomery

Prior to being appointed to the Superior Court of Ontario in 2017, Justice Gomery practiced civil and commercial litigation for over twenty-five years. She continues to be amazed by how much law there is and how much law there isn’t.

Peter Hagen

Peter has a special interest in personal injury claims and, in particular, claims arising out of medical negligence. Receiving his LLB from Queen’s University in 1976, he was called to the Bar in 1978. Peter is recognized by his peers for his expertise in the field of Personal Injury/Medical Negligence. He is recognized in “Best Lawyers in Canada*” and Benchmark Canada in the area of Personal Injury. He is also recognized by Lexpert for his expertise in Medical Negligence. Peter was inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers in 2010. Peter is a past President of the Medical-Legal Society of Ottawa-Carleton and a member of the Advocates Society and former director. He has presented papers at continuing education functions for the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, the Law Society of Upper Canada, and the County of Carleton Law Association.

Eric Williams

Eric Williams completed Law School from Queen’s University in 1972 and was called to the bar in 1974. He founded the firm Willams McEnery LLP in 1978 with Paul McEnery and has achieved recognition for his work by being selected and named by his peers as one of the best lawyers in Canada. He has represented clients in all areas of civil and corporate litigation---at every level of Court in Canada----acting as counsel in more than 185 civil court trials and appeals to date. Eric has been voted by his peers as one of “Canada’s Best Lawyers” for over 6 years in three categories: Corporate and Commercial Litigation, Insurance Law and Appellate Law. In addition to the clients that he serves directly, Eric served the Ottawa community as Deputy Small Claims Court Judge for over 15 years. He has developed a comprehensive advocacy-training program within Williams McEnery. He is an active participant in the Advocates’ Society and law association education and mentoring programs.
