Derek Nicholson

Derek Nicholson has exclusively practised in the area of civil litigation for 37 years and is currently at partner at Beament Hebert Nicholson LLP.  He taught for seventeen (17) years at the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Law as a guest lecturer for The Law of Insurance and was also a guest lecturer in Advocacy for three (3) years at the same institution.  Derek has taught several sections of the Bar Admission Course when it was more active including civil litigation, insurance, evidence and ethics.  Derek is currently the Treasure of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association (“OTLA”).  He is also on three OTLA Committees, namely the OTLA Cup, the OTLA Finance Committee and the OTLA Interventions Committee.  He runs the OTLA Cup Trial Moot Court competition with Michele Jorge.  He has presented several papers at OTLA Conferences, the Advocates Society and at Trombello. Derek is an active ski instructor and scuba diver.
