This session focuses on strategies for building reliable, tax-efficient cash flow in retirement—knowledge essential for advising clients on wealth preservation, succession planning, and charitable giving.
Financial expert Ken Doll (BA, B.Comm., MA, CFP, CLU, TEP, ICD.D) draws on nearly three decades of experience working with high-net-worth clients, business owners, professionals, and families across Canada and the U.S. He explains practical approaches for optimizing income from RRSPs, TFSAs, LIRAs, CPP/OAS, and private pensions while minimizing tax exposure.
Topics include RRSP meltdown strategies, the evolving role of CPP and OAS, individual pension plans, capital gains solutions for professional corporations, charitable giving at death, and the role of annuities and defined benefit plans. Lawyers will gain a deeper understanding of the financial planning concepts that underpin many estate and business law discussions, allowing them to better support and collaborate with their clients’ financial advisors.
Ken has been providing financial, retirement and estate planning solutions for 28 years. He has worked with High Net Worth ($2M – $25M) and Ultra High Net Worth ($25M – $100M+) clients, including prominent families, professional athletes (NHL Hockey Players), executives, business owners, professionals, and farmers and ranchers. He has also built financial plans for Canadians across the country, including those with property in the U.S.
Ken’s industry education includes earning the Certified Financial Planning (CFP), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) designations, along with having completed the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) and the Canadian Investment Funds Course (IFIC). He holds three degrees from the University of Alberta in business, economics and political science and has completed the Institute of Corporate Directors designation (ICD.D).
