The interplay between Family Law issues and Estates is important. Ian considers the competing claims that exist when someone dies both from an Estate Administration perspective and from the perspective of the surviving spouse.

Ian M. Hull

Ian M. Hull co-founded the firm with his father, Rodney Hull, in 1998. Ian also maintains a mediation practice through Hull Estate Mediation Inc.

Ian is a lecturer at the Ontario Bar Admission Course and guest lecturer for the Canadian Bar Association and the Law Society of Upper Canada. Ian is also the author of numerous articles and has written four books on estate law issues:

  • Advising Families on Succession Planning: The High Price of Not Talking, LexisNexis Canada (2005)
  • Power of Attorney Litigation, CCH (2000)
  • Challenging the Validity of Wills, Carswell (1994)
  • Probate Practice 4th Edition, Carswell (1996) (co-author)

Ian has an LL.B. from the University of Windsor and an Honours B.A. from the University of Western Ontario. He was called to the Bar in 1990. He is a Certified Specialist in Estates and Trusts Law and Civil Litigation, a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. He was chosen by LawDay as one of the top 60 leading lawyers in Canada in the practice area of Estates and Trusts for the year 2009.
