Matthew Benson

Matthew Benson is an associate at MBC Law Professional Corporation. He articled at MBC Law in 2020 and was called to the Bar in 2021. He practices in the area of civil and commercial litigation with a focus in construction law. Matthew is a graduate of the University of Calgary Faculty of Law and is from Saskatchewan.

Gabrielle Cyr

Gabrielle Cyr practices predominantly in the area of commercial litigation, procurement, international trade and white collar crime. Gabrielle has worked alongside senior counsel on numerous high-profile cases, including the largest public procurement in Canadian history (involving the replacement of Canadian military vessels), the Mark Norman case, and the independent review by EDC of its relationship with SNC-Lavalin in Angola. With a strong grounding in the law and an intense commitment to her work, Gabrielle understands the importance of looking beyond strictly legal issues to take into account tactical considerations, public and media relations, and reputational risk management. Gabrielle is fluent in both English and French and holds a degree in both English common law and Quebec civil law. In her spare time, Gabrielle is a boxer, and plays the piano and the flute.

Caitlin Gallant

Caitlin Gallant is an associate practicing in estate and civil litigation at Mann Lawyers LLP. Through her practice, Caitlin primarily assists clients with a broad range of estate litigation matters, including will challenges, power of attorney disputes, guardianship applications, passing of accounts, and dependant’s relief claims. Prior to joining Mann Lawyers, Caitlin completed her articles as a Judicial Law Clerk with the Superior Court of Justice in the East Region and obtained her law degree from the University of New Brunswick.

Camille Ligier

Camille Ligier Having begun her legal career during a pandemic, Camille has taken changes to the legal profession and court system in stride, demonstrating her ability to adapt quickly and seamlessly to new situations. Camille has successfully appeared in Small Claims Court and has worked on family and civil matters in both the Ontario and Superior Court of Justice. Camille currently practices in both family and civil matters. Her interests currently lie in family, landlord tenant, 6 personal injury, estate and construction matters. Camille completed her articles at Augustine Bater Binks LLP and Richardson Hall LLP, and is excited to establish herself in the Ottawa legal community. Originally from Montréal but raised in Calgary, Alberta, Camille grew up in an anglophone environment but never lost touch with her francophone roots. Camille est parfaitement bilingue et fière de pouvoir assister ses clients en français et/ou en anglais. Camille completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto where she graduated with high distinction. She then moved to Ottawa to obtain her law degree from the University of Ottawa.

Joseph Rucci

Joseph Rucci is developing a broad litigation practice in commercial, public, and administrative law. Prior to joining Conway as an associate, Joe completed his articling placement with the firm as a candidate in the Programme de pratique de droit. Joe graduated from the Faculty of Law at McGill University on the Dean’s Honour List with degrees in common and civil law. During his legal studies, Joe was the recipient of the J.S.D. Tory Writing Award for excellence in legal writing and research. He also served as a research assistant, conducting research into the 

historical development of public international law. Before being called to the bar, Joe worked as a paralegal at a New York boutique law firm and interned as an interpreter at a municipal court. He also attended McGill University for his undergraduate studies, where he earned an Honours degree in English and Italian Studies. Outside of the office, Joe enjoys playing tennis, revisiting old school Italian cinema, and learning new languages. Being a native New Yorker, he is on the constant lookout for the perfect pizza and bagel in his new home of Ottawa.

 

Wudassie Tamrat

Wudassie Tamrat is an associate in Gowling WLG's Ottawa office, practising in the Advocacy Group. Her practice focuses on civil and commercial litigation, international trade law, and privacy and access to information. Wudassie obtained her law degree at Osgoode Hall Law School. During her studies, she served as a senior editor of the Osgoode Hall Law Journal. Prior to attending law school, Wudassie earned her BA (Honours) in Political Studies and Global Development Studies from Queen's University, where she served as the managing editor for Politicus Journal, an undergraduate peer-reviewed publication. Wudassie practises in English, and in addition speaks French, Spanish and Amharic.
