Vern Krishna

Vern is Tax Counsel in the Ottawa office of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP and a Professor of Common Law at the University of Ottawa. Vern is a member of the Order of Canada and Queen's Counsel, as well as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, a Fellow of the Certified General Accountants of Canada, and a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb). Vern’s practice encompasses tax litigation and dispute resolution, international tax, wealth management, and tax planning. He is the author of several publications focusing on tax laws. In 2014, he was selected for inclusion in the 2014 edition of The Best Lawyers in Canada for Appellate Law, Tax Law, Trusts and Estates. Vern was awarded Order of Canada in 2004 and received a Doctor of Laws from the Law Society of Upper Canada in 2005. In 2012, the Law Society awarded him with the Law Society Medal (LSM), and has been a Law Society Bencher since 1991. Vern received his LLB, from the University of Alberta in1974, and his LLM, from Harvard Law School in 1975, and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1983.
