Paul Dancause

B.A., LL.B. Sole practitioner, Ottawa. Graduate of Dalhousie Law School (as it was then), 1984. Called to the Ontario Bar 1986. Practice restricted to estate-related matters, including solicitor’s work and estate litigation, including substitute decision practice and litigation. Has argued cases at all levels of court including the Court of Appeal for Ontario and the Supreme Court of Canada. Taught for many years at the Faculty of Law, University of Ottawa (Wills, Estate Planning, Trusts). Former head instructor at the Bar Admission Course (as it then was) in Ottawa in the Estate Planning and Administration component. Has presented numerous estate-related papers and topics at continuing legal education and CPD programs over the past twenty-five years.

Suzana Popovic-Montag

Suzana Popovic-Montag is the Managing Partner of Hull & Hull LLP. She

practices exclusively in the areas of estates, trusts, capacity and fiduciary

litigation. She also maintains a specialized mediation practice (having been trained at Harvard Law School) through Hull Estate Mediation Inc., focusing on pre-death

and post-death estate resolutions. Suzana is the co-author of Probate Practice, 5th edition, the seminal text in estates and trusts, and the author of numerous authoritative and learned articles in her areas of expertise. She has an LL.B. from the University of Western Ontario and an Honours B.A. from Wilfrid Laurier University. Suzana was called to the bar is 1997. She is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), the Toronto Lawyers Association, the Advocates’ Society, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys Inc., the Halton

County Law Association, and the Estate Planning Council (Mississauga).

Suzana has been recognized as a Lexpert Ranked lawyer since 2012. She has also been included in The Best Lawyers in Canada (2009-present), in the area of Trust and Estates, and has been selected as a recommended attorney by Global Law Experts.

Elaine Rufiange

Elaine Rufiange graduated from Queen’s University for both her undergraduate degree and law school. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 1986. Until 1995, she was in private practice in Ottawa, where her practice focused on real estate, wills and estates. Elaine has been Regional Counsel for the East region office of the Public Guardian and Trustee since 1995. She is a frequent speaker at conferences and also provides outreach sessions to stakeholders and families.

Paul Taylor

Paul Taylor is a partner in the Ottawa office of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP. Paul's practice focuses on trust, estate, and incapacity planning and administration as well as corporate law. Paul has a wide range of trust, estate, and incapacity experience, including planning for individuals with high value and complex assets, working with clients to provide for beneficiaries with disabilities, and preparing, amending, and interpreting trusts for aboriginal groups. Paul's corporate law experience includes the implementation of corporate structures as part of tax and other planning. Paul received his LLB, University of Manitoba (Robson Hall) in 2007 and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2008 and Nunavut in 2017. Paul is very active in the community and is Board President at Ottawa Salus. He's a former board member of Bruce House, Ryan's Well Foundation, and Fund for a New Generation.
